  • AyA History - in short. AyA was founded 1917 by Miguel Aguirre and Nicolas Aranzabal to make locks for the trade in Eibar. Their apprenticeship had both done by Eduardo Schilling (from Germany) in the town Catalonia. 1938 Augustin Aranzabal headed the firm and also expanded the business to complete guns. There are no AyA guns made before 1938.
  • AYA make double barrelled shotguns in both side-by-side and over-and-under versions, in boxlock and sidelock versions, as well a double rifles, and all models share a common denominator: their exceptional quality. The ownership of an AYA shotgun makes one part of a special and exclusive community.

I bought one thinking it was a yoeman, however, it isnt, it doesnt say yoeman on it and my old one did.It was proofed in 1970.It has a stunning bit of wood on it and Id like to know what model it is, its also mark 12-70.Thanks. The AYA catologue for 1968 pictures your gun as a model 116 or 117. The 117 has triple bolt lock-up,the 116 has only double under locking lugs. These guns are 5&6 grades below their best sidelock, the AYA grade 1.
